- Horror films continue to show terrific strength in 2025. Like every other part of moviegoing, the first quarter was sleepy. But Sinners shattered that in mid-April, and Final Destination: Bloodlines provided another boost in mid-May.

  • Horror is not a leader among all genres. Family movies lead the industry; they represent around a third of Hollywood's worldwide box office here. But at approx. 10% of the BO, there are so many good things happening with horror pictures, it's impossible not to be enthusiastic.

Final Destination: Bloodlines, #6 in the series, finishing with approx. $290m worldwide, it's the series high by more than +50%, after a 14 year layoff

- By the end of the year, we expect 2025 to push, and possibly surpass 2019 as the biggest year for horror movies in modern history. Here's what the chart looks like:
